Heart of the USA

Standing in front of the Statue of Freedom. This is a mold of the actual bronze statue on top of the Capitol dome.

The very center of the Capitol. They intended on burying President George Washington below the center but the building was not completed at the time of his passing. They say it is good luck to stand in the middle, so we did!

The original Senate room.

The balcony where our presidents are inaugurated.

Anthony and I standing on the Speaker of the House's balcony.

Anthony looking as handsome as ever in front of the Capitol.

Inside the hallways of the Capitol building.

The Largest Library in the World

Alissar in front of the first building (Jefferson Building) of the Library of Congress.

Words cannot begin to describe how beautiful this library is.

Anthony standing in front of one of the three completed Gutenburg Bibles on display.

The Main Reading Room.

Thomas Jefferson's 6,487 books that were purchased by Congress in 1814 because the British had burnt the nation's Capitol earlier.

The first time that the word "America" appears written, was on this map. If you look at the lower left-hand side you can see how wrong the geography was! Lol

Putting it All in Perspective

How it All Started....

We were not allowed to use cameras inside the building. Being able to see The Declaration of Independence, The Constitution and The Bill of Rights was definitely a highlight of our trip!

A Day at the Theater

Anthony standing in front of the Ford theater booth where President Lincoln was shot. We were able to see the clothes he wore that night and his belongings, even his blood stained pillow.

The original rocking chair where President Lincoln was shot.

He died in a house across the street from the Ford Theater.

The room where President Lincoln died.

A Watchful Eye

Anthony standing on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial, in front of the Washington Monument.

Anthony stands inside the monument, in front of President Lincoln.

Amazing, just amazing!

MLK Memorial

Anthony standing in front of the memorial entrance.

Alissar standing in front of MLK.

Anthony forced to pose like Dr. King by Alissar! Lol

The MLK Memorial looks out onto the Jefferson Memorial.

Seven Minutes

We were not allowed to take any pictures on our tour of the Pentagon, or outside of the building. Luckily, they provided two photo opportunities and we jumped on it! This was an absolute must, we got to see ground zero and learn so much about our beloved armed forces.

Anthony being himself! Lol
